Tuscany Region
Tuscany is located in central Italy along the West coast bordering the Tyrrhenian Sea. Many wines are made primarily from Sangiovese including the widely known Chianti. Some wines noted as "Super Tuscans" are comprised of Bordeaux-blend grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon as well. It has a warm mediterranean climate with vineyards planted along rolling hills. The soil in Tuscany is known to be of poor quality, which limits the yields of each vine but creates more complexity in the grapes themselves.
